Description:
Extra Touches located at Adams Park on Mondays and Fridays Technical/Tactical session. A very structured session, usually there are “stations” and players have a “technical and/or tactical “theme of the day” such as passing, dribbling, and/or how to apply the skill in the game. The session always finishes with a scrimmage. Street Soccer: Players are mixed with different age groups (about two years difference). The players with the guidance of a coach create soccer games by using car tires, garbage cans, etc. and they make their own rules. They organize their teams, positions, and playing style. They make necessary changes and adjustments as the game develops. Pick up games: Coaches, and players organized themselves into teams and play. Here there is an indirect coaching from the adults that model the techniques, and tactics. When adults are skillful, and know how to communicate their abilities, children in a short period of time start adding to their “tools kit” not only new techniques but equally important the “tricks of the trade” so necessary to “survive” at the highest level. In other words: they become “street smart”, savvy players.
